Consciam worked closely with the Global Good Awards to launch a new series of webinars – “Disruption:Delivered“.

The webinars are a break from the norm; a series of hard-hitting, trending topics that challenge thinking and get everyone a little uncomfortable in their seats! The goal is to drive change and address tough questions to help you deliver impact FASTER.

The first two webinars were held on 2nd September 2020:

Webinar 1: The Environmental Impact of Digital (watch the recording here)

Did you know that the global emissions from our digital lifestyles are on a par with the entire aviation industry’s fuel? And that was BEFORE lockdown! There are direct impacts from the energy used in every internet search, email sent and video streamed, as well as the indirect impacts to manufacturer the equipment you’re using. We may have seen a 95% reduction in aviation emissions over the last few months, but it’s been coupled with an exponential increase in teleconferencing and streaming.

In this session we heard more about impacts of this silent emitter, and discussed ‘quick wins’ to help you reduce your Scope 1 digital impact at home and in your business; also touching on some Scope 2 and 3 reductions too.

Moderated by Caroline MacDonald, founder of OggaDoon Ltd, our speakers were:

Dr James Robey – Global Head of Corporate Sustainability at Capgemini

Ben Clifford – MD, Erjjio Studios – Planet-friendly web design & hosting

Anna Hughes – Campaigner, Adventurer & founder of Flight Free UK

Webinar 2: Social Justice is everyone’s business (watch the recording here)

Racism has built every level of our society in ways that might surprise you. Systems have been set up across the world to give people of lighter skin colour more wealth, employment, education, housing, healthcare, and criminal justice. The world of business has been built on these systems, so dismantling and rebuilding them must be high on every company’s agenda. Not being racist is no longer an option; we must all be actively anti-racist.

We can only solve other global problems like pandemics and the climate crisis if we all have social justice; this is why the SDG’s are interconnected. In this powerful session, we did not tiptoe around uncomfortable subjects. We talked about issues like unconscious bias, privilege, white fragility, intersectionality, and systemic racism. And we discussed the actions every business can take to be anti-racist.

Moderated by Kendal Archer, Customer Engagement, The Planet Mark, our speakers were:

Misa von Tunzelman, Head of Marketing & Comms UK, BNP Paribas Real Estate

Dave Carlos, Director of JustOne Consultancy & Ambassador of The Planet Mark

Hayley Bennett, Freelance DE&I Consultant
